Two Red Cards, One Big Win: A Photographer’s Matchday Story

I was at the stadium today to shoot photos, and honestly, the game between Castilla and Barakaldo had way more drama than I expected. Castilla started well and had more of the ball, but both teams were fighting hard from the first minute. Right before halftime, César Palacios scored the 1–0, which definitely woke up the whole place.

But then, just a few minutes into the second half, Barakaldo made it 1–1, and suddenly the match felt completely open again. Castilla kept pushing, though, and in the 73rd minute David Jiménez scored the goal that would end up deciding the game. The reaction in the stands was great, you could feel how important that goal was.

The crazy part came at the end, when Castilla got two red cards, so they had to survive the last minutes with nine players. From a photographer’s point of view, it was perfect chaos, tackles, long balls, emotions everywhere. Goalkeeper Fran González saved them more than once; he was basically the reason the score stayed 2–1.

In the end, Castilla held on and took the win. It wasn’t the cleanest match, but it had everything: goals, tension, mistakes, hero moments. For me, it was a fun game to shoot and definitely one I’ll remember and the photos turned out great with all that drama.
