Before the Game starts Mbappé presents his Golden Boot to the spectateurs in the Bernabeu. The crowd cheered for him while he lifted the boot in the air, it was a magical feeling.
Still buzzing after this game, so I’ll try to put it in words, even though I’m definitely not a match reporter yet. Honestly, Real Madrid made things pretty easy, they gave us another brilliant night at the Bernabéu.
Seven games at home this season, seven wins. Five in LaLiga, two in the Champions League.
First Half
From the Beginning you could see that Real wanted to dominate the game. In the six minute, Arda Güler slipped a perfect pass through to Mbappé, whose shot ended up deflecting for a corner. On the next play, from that corner taken by Mastantuono, Valverde nearly pulled off a surprise outside-of-the-boot shot that missed by a few centimeters. You could tell the team wanted goals early.
Then the first key moment came. Another corner from Arda Güler, Militão rose with for a header, and the ball hit Tárrega’s hand. VAR checked for a potencial Handball. The referee checked it on the monitor and pointed to the spot. Mbappé stepped up, calm as ever, and buried it. 1–0, and the Bernabéu erupted.
Madrid didn’t stop there. The connection between Arda Güler and Mbappé clicked again right after the half hour. Bellingham spotted Arda’s run, Arda reached the byline, and then sent a perfect pass back to Mbappé, who finished with a lovely touch. His second of the night. His 18th goal in just 14 games. It feels unreal, even writing it.
Before the break, it could have been 3–0 from yet another penalty. Carreras got fouled in the box, but Vini Jr.’s shot was saved, and even Arda Güler’s rebound was stopped. Luckily, we didn’t have to wait long for the third.
And what a goal it was.
Only Jude Bellingham can do that right now. Received the ball on the edge of the area, turned past Beltrán beautifully, and beat the goalkeeper with a perfect shot into the net. Pure class. The stadium felt it, the sort of moment you know is about to be replayed everywhere.
Second Half
The second half was less eventful, but Madrid still managed to create some danger. Vini Jr. ran half of the pitch on one counter-attack and set up Mbappé once more, but Agirrezabala made an incredible save.
But the goal that sealed the night belonged to one man only, Number 18: Carreras. On his Real Madrid debut. In the 83rd minute, he cut inside from the wing and smashed a left-footed rocket right into the top corner.
After that, Madrid simply maintained possession, controlled the tempo of the game, and comfortably saw out the victory. Another clean sheet, another strong signal to the rest of LaLiga.
